Are your admins serious?

Recommended Posts

Hello EpicDot!

Have you ever checked what your admins do ingame? Cause what I just experienced is out of my mind. I was peacefully playing on your hardcore TDM server while some admin which name I don't remember was having a problem with me lagging.

My ping was 80, the lag was most likely caused by my PC. My ISP is really good and I rarely have problems with ping.

Your admin tried to tell me, that ping doesn't cause lag, and was talking that lag is only caused by packet loss... seriously... what the fuck? He told me to consult a wiki, fortunately, when it comes to wikis I know many stuff, I could search for what I wanted, but there is no reason, because I know what also causes lag.

So, dear admin, ping DOES CAUSE FUCKING LAG. And I seriously don't care that 500ms is autokicked on your server, 500ms would cause a lag, You think that the delay and jitter caused by the packet travelling 500ms to your computer wouldn't cause a lag? I guess you're wrong if you think that you wouldn't? It doesn't really matter if MW2 connects through TCP, UDP, WTF ports, ping is still there, and it still matters.

Do you think that there is a perfect way to make online gameplay lagless? That hosting something and letting ppl connect though UDP ports would let them play without any delays at 900 ms? There is huge difference between 300ms and 100ms and you still tried to assure me it's not lag. Just for you I'll paste some wikipedia:

In distributed applications, lag is often caused by communication latency, which is the time taken for a sent packet of data to be received at the other end. It includes the time to encode the packet for transmission and transmit it, the time for that data to traverse the network equipment between the nodes, and the time to receive and decode the data. This is also known as "one-way latency". A minimum bound on latency is determined by the distance between communicating devices and the speed at which the signal propagates in the circuits (typically 70–95% of the speed of light in vacuum). Actual latency is often much higher because of packet processing in networking equipment, and other traffic.

Losses, corruption or jitter (an outdated packet is in effect a loss) may all cause problems, but these problems are relatively rare in network with sufficient bandwidth and no or little congestion.

My lag was caused by my computer.

Have a nice weekend

Thank you for posting, appreciate it. I can have the same ping but still lag due to wireless connection or local issues. ISP is good but my connection can sometimes drop. If you did lag alot regardless of ping then yes it will affect the gameplay, at least for others. I was not there and cant comment on how much lag/latency it was etc. I can play on US servers with 150-200 ping, I dont lag that much but more to latency, still playable and nobody moan. If I jitter which can often happen using wireless, people tend to moan more. Were you kicked/ ban issued?

I kicked you. But first, I warned you. Explained to you what causes it. You admitted that you PC can't handle the game and you lag. Advised what you can do to reduce it. Then you started going the same charade you have just posted here, about how you don't care if we auto-kick high ping players and that extremely high ping causes lag, etc.

1.st I'm in no mood to have a days chat about possible causes of lag, when you admitted that your PC cannot handle the game and is causing it.

2.nd Warned you and advised you what to do, yet was ignored.

3.rd Even when the cause of the lag was known you chose to ignore this, claiming your experience is worse than that of others - newsflash: you are not here to have a bad experience nor are allowed to cause one to others.

Finally. I do not require any quotes from Wiki as I work for Biggest UK ISP as a networks and telephony engineer.

Good day to you too.
