We are in the next 2 weeks moving data centre. Could be next week or the week after. Downtime is expected to be 12 hours. It will actually be a lot less but the system will need to be re-configured etc. There will be significant improvements on performance as a result of the new network hardware. We will have a 1Gigabit uplink which means even more and better games can be installed. The only problem is that ALL IP's will change. The MW2's should not be a problem as they will populate fast. The COD4's are empty so no great deal there. The time consuming bit is actually to remove old entries and add the new ones including IP address change etc. Once we know the exact date, will post back here.

Donations will give access to the filesharing area.

How many got BF3 and if you like it, have you played on one of those 60+ slots? How many will buy MW3? If you buy via Steam you will get a copy of COD4 for free

YouTube blocks a lot, try DailyMotion or MetaCafe.

No, its not about just 'paying'. We have been around for some years and admins come and go. Which is fine but what we have found out over the years - that there is a difference between admins and admins. Our service is substantial meaning no DIY home adsl or desktop running our services offering 'free' service to the public. We are like you and most people but dedicated to what we do and like. Why should somebody pay for the whole fun and also maintain, keep up with updates and keep things running - whilst the rest of the world dont care? We have made this change to squeeze out admins who only feel the power in the amount of clicks he can do with the mouse. We want admins who are mature and who can see through what we are trying to do. About paying; We want you to realise that somebody is paying for the fun. Your contribution may be little but every little helps and it may also mean that we can expand our service, now or in the future. Admins who feel they are helping out are also likely to stay, community will become part of them and vice versus + what they have done. Being part of that helps the community to grow.

CoxGomyl is now commissioning the final systems on the higest building in the world the 818 Meter Burj Dubai. ( http://www.coxgomyl.com ) A total of 18 machines have been delivered to the building and the higest operating BMU in the world working at 715 meters Fact Sheet - Burj Dubai Currently the worlds tallest building and tallest man-made structure, Burj Dubai is at the centre of Downtown Burj Dubai, the flagship mega-project of Emaar Properties in Dubai. The final height of the tower will be revealed on its completion in 2009. With a development value of over US$1 billion, Burj Dubai, when completed, will fulfil all the criteria of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), which ranks the worlds tallest buildings on the basis of spire height, the highest occupied floor, roof height and pinnacle height. At a current height of over 800 metres (2,625 ft), Burj Dubai has now also scaled over 160 levels, the most number of storeys in any building in the world. Burj Dubai has already surpassed the height of the KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota, USA - 628.8 metres (2,063 ft), which held the distinction of being the worlds tallest man-made structure. Burj Dubai is taller than Taipei 101 in Taiwan, which at 508 metres (1,667 ft) has held the tallest-building-in-the-world title since it opened in 2004. The tower also surpassed the 31-year-old record of CN Tower, which at 553.33 metres (1,815.5 ft) has been the worlds tallest free-standing structure on land since 1976. Leveraging on the advancements in construction engineering, Burj Dubai undertook height enhancement in 2008 and is also upgrading its interior finishes. International designers from California have revisited the designs to make the residences more attractive and functionally superior. In just 1,325 days since excavation work started in January, 2004, Burj Dubai became the tallest free-standing structure in the world. More than 11,000 consultants and skilled construction workers are employed on site, and the worlds fastest high-capacity construction hoists, with a speed of up to 2 m/sec (120 metres/min), were used to move men and materials. When completed, the tower will have used 330,000 cubic meters of concrete, 39,000 metric tons of steel rebar and 142,000 sq m of glass and 22 million man hours. The design inspiration for Burj Dubai is drawn from the desert flower, Hymenocalis, and incorporates patterning systems that are embodied in Islamic architecture. The tower is designed as three petals arranged around a central core. As the tower rises from the flat base, the petals setback in an upward-spiraling pattern. Burj Dubais structure has employed the latest advances in wind engineering, structural engineering, structural systems, construction materials and construction methods. It will have a high performance exterior cladding system to withstand the harsh summer temperatures. A mixed-use tower, Burj Dubai features 2 million sq ft of residential and over 220,000 sq ft of prime business space, in addition to the Armani Hotel Dubai, and Armani Residences Dubai, luxury hospitality ventures by Emaar in association with haute couture major Giorgio Armani S.p.A. The tower offers recreational facilities and entertainment venues including four luxurious pools and a cigar club, a library, exclusive residents lounge, serviced residences, fitness facilities and an observatory deck on level 124, At The Top opening to impressive views of Dubai. The tower will also have a large Office Annexure. Only way is for 5-6 people to play every day, eventually more will join and they will come back. Server #4 was switched off, how many came to the site to ask why? None. People who used #4 don't and never cared. #4 Was switched off abruptly due to some files being corrupt with 3rd party that could not be replaced. Other ways to populate is to submit the server to cod sites (without spamming). It will take time and patience but possible.

This needs to be monitored. You should see a better performance when maps are changing/ loading. Also better when server is full etc. When I tested, I could not actually see or experience any difference but then again I only played for a couple of maps. It should deffo be smoother game play. I am considering to replace all the drives with SSD's. Only #1 and #2 are on the SSD.
-
I dont know, could have been random at the time.
-
Rotation has changed since your post, you may want to try now.
-
Right, server back online with the SSD disk for the main OS. MW2 and some COD4's are online too. As a test MW2 #1 and #2 have been moved to the SSD disk. Faster disk access should also mean a better experience for the player(s). Test it? Play a few games on #1 or #2 then on some of the others. Especially take a note on map changes and when the server is full.

Server is being upgraded with some super fast disks.

The 'faulty' one is that two styles merged into one? Got an idea, if I delete that style it will force you to change to default. Thinking of it, I think something is stopping you from downloading the style fully (CSS).
-
Anyone else than Stiuart with a 'stuck' style? We cant seem to resolve the problem he has and I would like to know if more people have the same problem. Could also be just Stiuart which would not be unusual.

New RCON application online, still needs some work but can be used. Will be tweaked and other positions will also be added. Original thread http://www.epicdot.com/forum/showthread.php?154-How-to-become-an-admin-or-apply-for-RCON-access&p=505#post505 has been updated. Link to the new application form is here: http://www.epicdot.com/forum/application-forms.php?do=main&appid=1 Please note that new admins before applying must understand that the main requirement is now that you contribute on a regular basis by donations (per month). Dont like it? Join another community with home based ADSL's to sponsor your servers. Applications will be submitted to a secure area and not in public view.

Cool, you can play soon then the download update will be massive

Just a note and reminder. The only way for the new servers to be populated is for you to play, nobody will join an empty server. Or they may join for 4min hoping that others will join but then leave because there are none. The CAPUA server, once you are 4-5 playing - it should populate fast and also stay populated. The CREMERA server is different and will be slower to populate but here again, you got to play on it and not expect others to join and server suddenly full ready for you to join. It is hard work to populate servers. To give you some ideas, the old COD4 #4 (which has now been discontinued) was the hardest server ever to populate, it was changed many types including game type. It took 15 months but then eventually it was also on for 24/7 and almost always full before players moved on to other games. The point is; if you want to keep the servers populated and online. That will not happen by its itself

Was posted yesterday did you not get my PM? recorded delivery.

OK SSD disk arrived. New OS installed. ALL games will be offline for a little while, I dont know how long. It may have to wait Play Black Ops instead. The other disks are NOT ready.
